Aromatherapy

Clinical Aromatherapy

Essential oils have been used for thousands of years; the Egyptians used them for medical purposes as well as embalming. In the Bible they were used for treating illnesses and religious purposes, Frankincense and Myrrh were taken to the baby Jesus as they had a similar value to gold. Juniper and Rosemary were burnt in French hospitals during the wars to help keep the air clean as both are anti-infectious. Citrus oils are uplifting and are useful when colds are around.

Essential oils are extracted from different parts of many plants, trees and grasses and all have unique chemical compositions, properties and aromas.

Aromatherapy treatments are HOLISTIC, taking the body, mind and spirit into consideration and working to encourage the bodies own natural healing powers.

Aromatherapy Massage

Aromatherapy can be used with massage to promote relaxation, ease muscle tension, renew energy and stimulate the circulation.

The essential oils can also be used in compresses for local applications, inhalations for respiratory complaints and in baths for relaxation and muscular aches. Other areas clients have found to benefit are anxiety, depression, insomnia, menstrual problems, headaches, fatigue and boosting the immune system.

The first appointment includes a full health consultation to ensure suitability for treatment and that there are no contraindications to massage or aromatherapy, and helps to ensure the most appropriate blend is made for each session. Only pure essential oils are used.

It is recommended that aromatherapy is carried out every 2-4 weeks.
